8 Plot Points We Want To See In A "Game Of Thrones" Prequel

The end is in sight for HBO's acclaimed series. With only two more seasons left, fans are prepping for a world without Westeros. . . or maybe not! In a new interview with EW, HBO programming president Casey Bloys mentioned that ideas for a prequel are being explored. So here are some plot possibilities:

Robert's Rebellion

Robert's Rebellion was a rebellion against House Targaryen. It resulted in the end of the Targaryen dynasty in the Seven Kingdoms and the beginning of Robert Baratheon's reign.

Aegon's Conquest

Aegon's Conquest was the campaign in which Aegon I Targaryon conquered most of Westeros. He successful subdued six of the Seven Kingdoms, resisted only be Dorne.

In a "Game Of Thrones" prequel, we'd love to see the legendary Night's King story unfold, from his creation by the Children of the Forest to his subsequent reign of terror.

The War Of The Ninepenny Kings

Also known as the Fifth Blackfyre Rebellion, this was a conflict involving several of the free cities started by a group of ambitious mercenaries known as the Band of Nine. Several young knights and lords distinguished themselves in the battle, including Brynden Tully, Steffon Baratheon, Tywin Lannister and Aerys II Targaryen.

Maegor The Cruel

Maegor was the third Targaryen to sit the Iron Throne, after his father Aegon the Conqueror, well conquered the Seven Kingdoms. Fans would likely relish the opportunity to see House Targaryen truly begin to assert their dominance over the continent of Westeros.

The Tales Of Dunk and Egg are a series of novellas George RR Martin wrote as a prequel to our current "Game Of Thrones." They involve the adventures of a Hedge Knight called Ser Duncan the Tall and the young Aegon V Targaryen.

Dragons fighting dragons. Hell Yes! The Dance of the Dragons was a Targaryen civil war over control of the Iron Throne where dozens of dragons would perish, King's Landing would be sacked, and half the Seven Kingdoms would be incinerated in dragonfire.

A glimpse of the Mad King in season 6 has made fans curious about the madness that runs in House Targaryen. A prequel would present the perfect opportunity to explore King Aerys II Targaryen and his rule.
