Buy Second- Hand

Don't head online to fast fashion retailers or to the high street whenever you need a wardrobe refresh. Plenty of charity shops, vintage stores or even car boot sales can be a good source of finding pre-loved but still usable clothes and accessories.

2

Sell On your Old Clothes

With the help of apps and websites like Depop, Ebay, Shpock, and many more, it has never been easier to sell your old clothes, and get some more cash. Try to take appealing photos of your clobber and use good hashtags to get more interest.

3

Organise or Attend a Clothes Swap

Chances are, if you don't love or fit your favourite top anymore, one of your best pals might want it! Invite all your friends around to bring over their old clothes and you can get a new wardrobe for free, and have some fun.

4

Upcycle

You can refresh your existing wardrobe by a few simple upgrades. A few suggestions are making an old shirt into a cropped one, using tie-dye or other dye to change the colour or adding funky additions like sequins or glitter glue.

5

Repair

Don't head straight down the shops if your favourite coat loses a button, teach yourself how to do some basic repairs like sewing on a button or darning so you can get more wear out of your best pieces. If your sewing skills are not up to par, often tailors or dressmakers will alter clothes so you can get the most wear out of them as possible.

6

Shop Locally

Supporting small, local and independent businesses is often a good way to contribute to the local community and find clothes which are more ethically made.

7

Research

Before you buy your latest fashion piece, take a second to look up the practices of the retailer, and consider WHY it might be so affordable. The findings might shock you!

8

Donate Old Clothes

Don't automatically chuck old or unworn clothes in the bin, they can often be donated or if they are in bad condition, put into a clothing bank for scrap material.

9

Re-Purpose

While that old 'One Direction' tee-shirt of yours may not be fit for wearing out anymore, maybe it would make a great cushion cover or bag. With some basic sewing or gluing skills, you could find a new home for your old clothes round the house.

10

Recycle- for Cash!

Some high street retailers including H&M and M&S offer £5 vouchers in exchange for bags of your old clothes. There is also a recycling app Regain for discounts and vouchers, when you recycle.
