6 cups quartered hamburger buns

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 cup softened unsalted butter

2 tablespoons light brown sugar

Brandy Sauce (see recipe)

Ice cream, for serving

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter a 9-by-9-inch baking dish.
Arrange quartered buns in baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk milk, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla until well combined. Pour over buns. Press bread down to be sure it’s covered with liquid. Let mixture rest 10 minutes.
While bread is soaking, in a small bowl, mix butter and brown sugar together. When pudding is ready, sprinkle brown sugar mixture over bread. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until custard is set. Remove from oven and serve with ice cream and brandy sauce. Serves: 12
